My passion has always been paying it forward, so this past month I have been serving on a gala fundraising committee for Smiles & Beyond. This nonprofit organization is hosting its annual fundraiser “Arizona Smiles” on October 1^st. It’s a hybrid event, so if you want to venture out for a cocktail hour and First Friday events you are able. Smiles & Beyond has made a commitment to Local First Arizona, so almost everything available at our fundraiser is local. It’s called the Arizona Smiles Sunset Happy Hour. You’ll have a chance to enjoy live music, food, drinks, and fun! All CDC Covid recommendations will be observed.

Smiles & Beyond provides the gift of a restored smile to program participants who are survivors of domestic violence or have been formerly incarcerated, through a unique model based on volunteer dentists and labs, philanthropic donations, and a small monthly pledge from each of our participants.

Since the organization’s founding, it has changed the lives of nearly 400 people by building partner relationships with 37 volunteer dentists, 14 volunteer labs, and 14 referring organizations. See powerful client testimonials: https://smilesandbeyond.org/event.

I worked for A.T Still University for many years as the V.P. of Marketing and Communications and am proud to partner again with Dr. Maureen Perry who serves on the host committee. She is the associate dean for the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (lovingly referred to as ASDOH). She helped start the very first school of dentistry in the state of Arizona. When I worked there more than 14 years ago, I was proud of the service that ASDOH provided to nonprofits such as Smiles & Beyond. I can personally tell you, from observation, this is top notch dentistry.
